José Carlos de la Vega Basulto M.C.A. was bon in México City the 27 of July, 1950. He started his piano studies at an early age and played his first recital at 5 years of age.He holds a Master’s Degree.
Some of his teachers were Angelica Morales Von Sauer, Ryszard Bakst, George Hadjinikos and Jorge Bolet. He has received personal advice from Vlado Perlemuter, Claudio Arrau, Paul Badura-Skoda, and Vladimir Horowitz.
He has played extensivenly in México, Australia, Europe and USA. He’s been a guest in several international festivals such as: Edinburg’s Festival, Mattara’s Festival, Perth’s Festival, Sidney Festival, Red Card Festival, and Newcastle Festival.
He has been Chairman or President of several societies such as: the Sydney Schumann Society (Australia), New Castle and Wollongong City council Concerts, Asociación Pianística Mexicana, etc.
He has performed with several orquestras like: Redcar Symphony Orquestra, Liverpool Philharmonic, witch conductors such as: George Hadjinikos, Charles Groves.
He has given the premiers of several new compositions on request of the composers such as: Sir. Michael Tippett, Carlos Chávez, Stephen Braca, Anthony Donnolley, Gerhard Muench, Rodolfo Halfter, Anthony Gilbert.
He has extended his teaching career giving master classes from México, to England, Australia, etc. In the later he was deputy director of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, and adviser in music education to the Australia Music Board and the Minister of education of N.S.W Australia.
He has played Chamber music with the Carl Pinni Quartet and the Beijing Quartet. He has accompanied Cecil Aronowitz, Paul Doktor.
Lately He’s dedicated his time to giving master classes all over the world as well as concerts. He makes recording for the ABC Australia.
